About the THE Asia University Rankings 2026
Times Higher Education published the THE Asia University Rankings 2026 on 25 April 2026. On Ulkaa Campus the edition records 19 Bangladeshi institutions (13 public, 5 private and 1 of other types). Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and University of Dhaka share the top national position, all at 301-350.
This edition is recorded in part. Ulkaa Campus lists the Bangladeshi institutions it has been able to verify against the publisher's table so far, so the count of 19 should be read as a minimum and the publisher's full table may include more Bangladeshi names. Positions among the listed institutions are still computed only from the entries shown here.
Who appears and where
The leading entries in this edition are Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (301-350), University of Dhaka (301-350), Daffodil International University (351-400), North South University (351-400), Bangladesh Agricultural University (401-500) and Gazipur Agricultural University (401-500). For readers who search by name, that puts the University of Dhaka at 301-350, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology at 301-350 and North South University at 351-400.
In an Asia table the rank is a position among universities across the continent, so the best Bangladeshi positions sit in the hundreds. The national position, counted only among Bangladeshi institutions on Ulkaa Campus, is the more useful number when comparing local universities with one another.
Movement
This is the earliest edition of the table recorded on Ulkaa Campus, so there is no earlier edition to compare it with.
Reading ranks and bands
A rank such as 600 is a single position. A band such as 1001-1200 means the publisher grouped several institutions together and did not order them inside the band, so two institutions in the same band are tied. A value ending in a plus sign, for example 1401+, means the institution is in the last published band. Ulkaa Campus shows the rank exactly as the publisher printed it and never converts a band into a single number.
What THE Asia measures
THE Asia University Rankings use the same 18 indicators as the world table but weight them differently for the region. Teaching carries 24.5 percent, research environment 28 percent and research quality 30 percent. International outlook carries 7.5 percent and industry 10 percent, more than twice its weight in the world table, with industry income and patents worth 5 percent each. Within the pillars, teaching reputation drops to 10 percent and research reputation to 15 percent, while the four research-quality measures carry 7.5 percent each. THE lists these weights on its Asia methodology page for the 2026 edition. Universities are excluded if they do not teach undergraduates or published fewer than 1,000 relevant research outputs between 2020 and 2024. That research-volume threshold is one reason the Asia table can include fewer Bangladeshi institutions than a reader might expect from the national size of the sector.
Summary
The THE Asia University Rankings 2026 records 19 Bangladeshi institutions. Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and University of Dhaka share the top national position, all at 301-350.
The publisher is Times Higher Education, and its methodology page is https://www.timeshighereducation.com/world-university-rankings/asia-university-rankings-2026-methodology. The table here is reproduced for reference as one rank per institution; the scores, sub-scores and full global table belong to the publisher. Ulkaa Campus is not affiliated with Times Higher Education. For admission decisions, a rank is only one input. Subject strength, location, the programmes offered and the institution's own admission notices matter more for most applicants.
