About the THE World University Rankings 2026
Times Higher Education published the THE World University Rankings 2026 on 9 October 2025. On Ulkaa Campus the edition records 19 Bangladeshi institutions (13 public, 5 private and 1 of other types). Daffodil International University, Gazipur Agricultural University, Jahangirnagar University, North South University and University of Dhaka share the top national position, all at 801-1000.
This edition is recorded in part. Ulkaa Campus lists the Bangladeshi institutions it has been able to verify against the publisher's table so far, so the count of 19 should be read as a minimum and the publisher's full table may include more Bangladeshi names. Positions among the listed institutions are still computed only from the entries shown here.
Who appears and where
The leading entries in this edition are Daffodil International University (801-1000), Gazipur Agricultural University (801-1000), Jahangirnagar University (801-1000), North South University (801-1000), University of Dhaka (801-1000) and Bangladesh Agricultural University (1001-1200). For readers who search by name, that puts the University of Dhaka at 801-1000, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology at 1001-1200 and North South University at 801-1000. Another 4 Bangladeshi institutions (Bangladesh University of Professionals, Independent University, Bangladesh, United International University and University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh) are listed with Reporter status, which means they supplied data to THE but did not receive a rank.
In a world table the rank is a position among universities from every country that the publisher includes, so even the best Bangladeshi position is a long way from the first page of the table. For that reason the national position, counted only among Bangladeshi institutions on Ulkaa Campus, is the more useful number when comparing local universities with one another.
Movement
Against the 2025 edition, 1 of the 15 institutions that appear in both editions moved to a higher rank or band, 12 stayed in the same position or band and 2 moved to a lower band; 4 more appear for the first time in this record. These comparisons use the first number of each rank or band, so a move within a band is not counted as a change.
Reading ranks and bands
A rank such as 600 is a single position. A band such as 1001-1200 means the publisher grouped several institutions together and did not order them inside the band, so two institutions in the same band are tied. A value ending in a plus sign, for example 1401+, means the institution is in the last published band. Ulkaa Campus shows the rank exactly as the publisher printed it and never converts a band into a single number.
What THE measures
Times Higher Education scores universities on 18 indicators grouped into five pillars. Teaching carries 29.5 percent, with teaching reputation worth 15 percent and the rest split between staff-to-student ratio, the doctorate-to-bachelor's ratio, doctorates awarded per academic staff member and institutional income. Research environment carries 29 percent: research reputation 18 percent, research income 5.5 percent and research productivity 5.5 percent. Research quality carries 30 percent through citation impact, research strength, research excellence and research influence. International outlook carries 7.5 percent and industry 4 percent, the latter through industry income and patents. THE lists these weights on its methodology page for the 2026 edition and has used this 18-indicator structure since its 2024 edition. Universities that provide data but do not meet the eligibility criteria are shown with Reporter status and receive no rank. Because THE publishes exact ranks only near the top and wide bands further down, almost every Bangladeshi entry appears as a band rather than a single number.

The table here is reproduced for reference as one rank per institution; the scores, sub-scores and full global table belong to the publisher.
