About the QS Asia University Rankings 2026
QS Quacquarelli Symonds published the QS Asia University Rankings 2026 on 5 November 2025. On Ulkaa Campus the edition records 46 Bangladeshi institutions (23 public, 21 private and 2 of other types). University of Dhaka is the highest-placed Bangladeshi institution at 132.
Ulkaa Campus records this edition in full for Bangladesh, so every Bangladeshi institution the publisher ranked in it appears in the table.
Who appears and where
The leading entries in this edition are University of Dhaka (132), North South University (149), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (165), Daffodil International University (221), BRAC University (260) and Jahangirnagar University (304). For readers who search by name, that puts the University of Dhaka at 132, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology at 165 and North South University at 149.
In an Asia table the rank is a position among universities across the continent, so the best Bangladeshi positions sit in the hundreds. The national position, counted only among Bangladeshi institutions on Ulkaa Campus, is the more useful number when comparing local universities with one another.
Movement
Against the 2025 edition, 4 of the 9 institutions that appear in both editions moved to a higher rank or band, 0 stayed in the same position or band and 5 moved to a lower band; 37 more appear for the first time in this record. These comparisons use the first number of each rank or band, so a move within a band is not counted as a change.
Reading ranks and bands
A rank such as 600 is a single position. A band such as 1001-1200 means the publisher grouped several institutions together and did not order them inside the band, so two institutions in the same band are tied. A value ending in a plus sign, for example 1401+, means the institution is in the last published band. Ulkaa Campus shows the rank exactly as the publisher printed it and never converts a band into a single number.
What QS Asia measures
QS Asia University Rankings use a set of indicators close to the world table but tuned to the region. Academic reputation carries 30 percent and employer reputation 20 percent. Faculty-student ratio, international research network and citations per paper carry 10 percent each. Papers per faculty and staff with a PhD carry 5 percent each, and four internationalisation measures, international faculty, international students, inbound exchange students and outbound exchange students, carry 2.5 percent each. These are the weights QS lists for its Asia table. Compared with the world ranking, the Asia table gives more room to staff qualifications and student exchange, and it compares universities only with others in Asia, which is why Bangladeshi institutions can sit in the low hundreds here while appearing in a much lower band in the world table. A rank in one table cannot be converted into a rank in the other.
Summary
The QS Asia University Rankings 2026 records 46 Bangladeshi institutions. University of Dhaka is the highest-placed Bangladeshi institution at 132. 4 institutions rose against 2025 and 0 held their place.
The publisher is QS Quacquarelli Symonds, and its methodology page is https://www.topuniversities.com/asia-rankings/methodology. The table here is reproduced for reference as one rank per institution; the scores, sub-scores and full global table belong to the publisher. Ulkaa Campus is not affiliated with QS Quacquarelli Symonds. For admission decisions, a rank is only one input. Subject strength, location, the programmes offered and the institution's own admission notices matter more for most applicants.
